The Marisa 2-3 occurrence is located on a west-flowing tributary of the Quatse River referred to as Edith Creek, approximately 4.3 kilometres east-northeast of Quatse Lake.

Regionally, the area is underlain by northwest-trending belts of basaltic volcanics and carbonate sedimentary rocks of the Upper Triassic Karmutsen and Quatsino formations (Vancouver Group) and mafic volcanics and sediments of the Upper Triassic to Lower Jurassic Bonanza Group (Holberg volcanic unit, Nahwitti River wacke and Parson Bay Formation). These volcanic and sedimentary rocks have been intruded by granodioritic rocks of the Early to Middle Jurassic Island Plutonic Suite.

Locally, malachite and chalcopyrite mineralization, up to 30 per cent, occurs in amygdules and as disseminations in epidote-rich amygdaloidal andesites near an intrusive contact. Chalcopyrite mineralization increases towards contact. In 1991, a sample (60717) assayed 2.252 per cent copper and 7.5 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 21581).

A second zone of mineralization, located along a logging road approximately 400 metres to the northeast, is comprised of disseminated pyrite and chalcopyrite in quartz-epidote–filled amygdules in an andesite. In 1991, a sample (60746) assayed 0.458 per cent copper and 2.9 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 21581).

A third zone of mineralization is exposed in a rock pit located approximately 350 metres further along this road and is comprised of malachite and disseminated chalcopyrite in an intensely fractured and sheared andesite. Epidote and quartz masses and/or veins are found in the immediate vicinity of the mineralization. In 1991, a sample (60748) assayed 1.575 per cent copper and 4.5 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 21581).

In 1968, Emperor Mines completed an airborne magnetic survey on the area. In 1969, Yellowknife Bear Mines Ltd. completed a program of soil sampling and a 49.6 line-kilometre ground magnetic survey on the area as the Little Joe claims. In 1980, a program of geological mapping was completed. In 1981 and 1983, Energex Minerals Ltd. completed an airborne electromagnetic survey and eight diamond drill holes, totalling 232.4 metres, on the area as the Cliff claims. During 1987 through 1989, programs of rock and soil sampling, geological mapping, minor trenching and 16.7 line-kilometres of ground magnetic surveys were completed on the area.

In 1991, Daiwan Engineering Ltd. prospected and sampled the area as the Marisa 1-4 claims. The following year, a program of geochemical sampling and ground induced polarization and magnetic surveys were completed on the area.

In 2016, the area was prospected by Tech-X Resources Ltd.
